Laser-cut acrylic templates and steel peghole-drilling guides

Originally produced by Siminoff Banjo and Mandolin Parts (founded in 1965 and closed in 2015) our highly-accurate Templates and Peghole Drilling Guides are considered best-in-class.

Our Templates are precision laser-cut to the exact shapes and sizes of the instrument parts they represent. Templates include: F5, F4, A1, A5, and H5 peghead templates, body templates, f-hole templates, neck profile (side-view) templates, neck contours and shapes templates, scroll peak templates (to re-draw the scroll's peak during repeated shaping and sanding), string-slotting guide for bridges and nuts, and a string-break-angle gauge. The list includes complete template sets for the F5 and A5 mandolin and the H5 mandola. These durable acrylic templates are made from 1/8˝ -thick transparent vibrant-green acrylic plastic to help find them in a busy shop. (See additional notes below.)

Our Peghole Drilling Guides are CNC'd from 1/4˝ steel plate so you can clamp them to the peghead and drill right through them for precise alignment of the posts. Post holes are 29/32˝ (.905˝, 23mm) c/c, standard for Gotoh, Grover, and other machines. Includes instructions.

NOTES:

• #368 string-break angle template features four angles: 14°, 15°, 16°, and 17° (NOTE: 16° is ideal, 17° is an excessive string-break angle, but is included to reveal an excessive angle).

• #370-S and #373-S scroll-peak template is held flush to the outside edge of the instrument ane scroll so you can redraw the location of the scroll's peak during subsequent sanding and shaping of the soundboard's and backboard's scroll peak.

• #370-N F5/A5 and #373-N H5 neck contours templates feature five full shapes of the neck at five fret locations, and five half-shapes at the same locations to assist in shaping neck as you are approaching the neck's final width.

• #200 and #201 steel drill guides align at the nut and at the peghead's point for precise alignment and drilling of peg holes in the peghead. CNC-machined from 1/4˝ steel. Instructions included.

• #371-P  A5 Peghead profile template is the modified version shown in our ProSeries A5 Drawings. A drawing of the original A5 mandolin made for Wm. Griffith is included with the #371-P peghead template.
